The Nike Shox Rivalry, launched in 2005, was designed with the female consumer in mind, aiming to offer an alternative to the bulky, basketball-inspired models that had defined the Shox line up to that point.
The illusion of a high heel, despite its low-profile build, was achieved through the clever placement of three Shox towers - two under the heel and one under the arch. A visible gap between the towers added to this effect, making the shoe appear taller than it actually was.
This particular version of the Rivalry features a carbon-like upper.
